Sora migration

Sora Alternative for Fashion — Where to Migrate Before September 24, 2026

Sora 2 is being discontinued — consumer app April 26, 2026; API September 24, 2026. If you are shipping fashion video on Sora today, you need to migrate. Moire routes to Veo, Kling, Runway, and Seedance — same fashion video work, different engines, with the collection workflow built in.

TL;DR — Sora 2 is being discontinued. The consumer app shut down on April 26, 2026. The Sora 2 API stops on September 24, 2026. Moire routes fashion video to Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0, Runway Gen-4.5, and Seedance 2.0 — same fashion video work, different engines, with the collection workflow built in.

What is Sora?

OpenAI · Sora 2 (consumer app discontinued April 26, 2026; API discontinued September 24, 2026)

Sora was OpenAI's text-to-video model, released in early 2024 and updated to Sora 2 with a consumer app in 2025. As of 2026, OpenAI has confirmed the discontinuation: the consumer Sora web and app experiences shut down on April 26, 2026, and the Sora API (including Sora 2 and Sora 2 Pro endpoints) stops accepting new requests on September 24, 2026. OpenAI cited unsustainable compute costs (~$1M/day) and copyright friction as primary drivers. Existing Sora users have until September 24, 2026, to migrate.

Where Sora excels

  • Strong physics simulation and long-form coherence — the original technical differentiator.
  • Native audio in Sora 2 — though Veo 3.1 has since matched this with better lip sync.
  • Extensive fine-grained motion control — also available now in Runway Gen-4.5 and Kling 3.0.

Where it falls short for fashion

  • Discontinuation is the load-bearing issue. Any Sora-dependent workflow has a hard deadline of September 24, 2026.
  • Generic on fashion construction vocabulary — the same gap every foundation video model has. Brief, design, editorial, campaign, distribution: no concept of the collection workflow.
  • Copyright friction in 2025 (default opt-out for IP holders) made fashion brand work risky on Sora before the shutdown was announced.

How Moire fixes this

Moire never adopted Sora. We built the collection workflow on Veo 3, Kling 2.6 Pro / 3.0 Pro / O3, Runway Gen-4 Turbo / Gen-4.5, and Seedance 2.0. The same fashion video work runs on those engines today. For designers migrating off Sora, the switch inside Moire is a model selection — the brief, the storyboard, the locked looks, and the collection workflow stay exactly the same.
